Dr. David Cooperrider, professor of social entrepreneurship at Case Western University and pioneer of Appreciative Inquiry, made this profound observation:
“Human systems develop in the direction of the questions they most deliberately and frequently ask.”
With that in mind, to entertain the question of man’s worthiness is to
- accept the premise that man’s worthiness can be questioned, and
- direct the development of his soul (mind, will, emotions) in a particular direction.
I am currently of the opinion that the frequent questioning of man’s worthiness directs soul development in three directions: Shame, Pride, and Vulnerability. And, I suggest that these three directions result in “soul-states,” or contexts that are influential in steering the direction of decisions and choices.
